Feb. 24th, 2007 01:59 pmSo, I was inspired by a conversation with
playfulfordian to visit the Camden Aquarium today. Which I did.
It's smaller than I remember it being, and there were hordes of small children all over the place, but things were still enjoyable. Of all things, I think my favorite part was the big tank of jellyfish. So pretty! I also liked the shark tunnel, although the Aquarium's website uses clever photography to make it look a lot larger than it actually is. I probably would have liked the Giant Pacific Octopus a lot more were it not asleep (suckered onto the ceiling of its tank, no less), but octopuses are nighttime creatures anyway so it wasn't that unexpected.
I bought a large mug at the gift shop. This is because they didn't have any stuffed octopuses. And the mug at least has an octopus on it (as well as a shark, a ray, a jellyfish, a barracuda, a Moorish Idol, a Hawaiian Reef Triggerfish [Humuhumunukunukuapua'a!], one fish I can't identify offhand [possibly a snapper of some variety], and a bunch of coral).
